Our Approach

Needs Analysis

The first step in determining the viability of an energy-efficient lighting upgrade or retrofit is the needs analysis. A Relumination auditor will perform an on-site inventory of your existing lighting and interview you to determine your unique needs and challenges. Some of the questions that will be answered in this phase are:

  • Quantity and type of existing lighting fixtures?
  • Lighting hours of operation?
  • Current lighting issues: Performance, abnormal maintenance, quality of light?
  • Additional goals: Lighting controls, safety, worker efficiency or sustainability?

Preliminary Assessment

Next, an auditor will prepare a preliminary assessment which includes a product recommendation, estimated energy savings, features & benefits, financial analysis, available utility incentives/tax benefits and an estimated cost of the upgrade. The preliminary analysis provides a framework for the lighting upgrade or retrofit.

Engineered System Design

Depending on the size and scope of your project, an engineered system design may be necessary. A Relumination project engineer will utilize a computer software design system to determine the appropriate number of lights, lighting levels, height and spacing to maximize the perfect lighting layout for your facility.

Project Proposal

After the information is gathered and analyzed in the needs analysis, preliminary assessment and engineered system design phases, a final recommendation is created in the form of a custom project proposal. The project proposal includes:

  • Product Recommendation
  • Energy Savings Analysis
  • Custom Design / Layout
  • Exact Utility Incentives & Rebates
  • Available Tax Deductions and Credits
  • Total Upgrade Costs
  • Financial Analysis
    • Breakeven Analysis
    • ROI Analysis
    • Total Cost of Ownership Analysis for Existing vs Upgrade
    • Cost to Wait Analysis
  • Implementation Timeline
  • Financing Options

Implementation & Project Management

Once the project is approved, Relumination will assign a project manager for your job. They will complete the necessary steps to schedule and perform the implementation of your project around your schedule to minimize disruption to your business. The project manager is available throughout the implementation process to handle all aspects of completing the project from scheduling to on-site supervision.

Post-Implementation & Project Verification

After the installation is completed, the project manager will perform a complete system test to ensure everything is working correctly. All performance metrics are measured, verified and recorded. In addition, the project manager will complete all necessary project verification steps necessary to submit utility company rebates and satisfy EPACT and other tax program requirements. The project manager will also follow-up with the utility company to make sure the rebate is approved and is being processed on your behalf.
