The opportunity
Relumination has a long history with SanMar through its property management group, Lake Washington Partners. Since 2018, Relumination has upgraded distribution centers in Florida, Ohio, Minnesota, and New Jersey. SanMar, founded in 1971, has always placed great value on sustainability and reducing its impact on the planet. Knowing its distribution centers consumed a lot of electricity and generated significant hazardous waste, SanMar set out to improve both the lighting and its carbon footprint.
What we did
Energy-hungry, maintenance-heavy fluorescent fixtures were replaced with LEDs and smart controls in the warehouse areas. Light levels improved by as much as 50% in some areas, creating safer, healthier conditions for the 1,000+ people who work at each facility. Office and exterior lighting was replaced with LEDs that consume up to 80% less energy and last 20+ years.
The result
Brighter, safer warehouses for thousands of employees, dramatically lower energy use in offices and outdoor areas, and a meaningfully smaller carbon footprint across four states, advancing SanMar's long-standing sustainability goals.
