The opportunity
For a transportation company, lighting is part of keeping trucks serviced and the logistics channel moving, and the yard and shop at Knight's El Paso service center had outgrown its aging exterior lighting. Dim, high-maintenance fixtures made night work harder and cost more to run. Knight worked with Relumination to upgrade the site.
What we did
Relumination upgraded the exterior lighting at the El Paso truck shop with energy-efficient LEDs, motion-sensor controls, and daylight-sensing lighting, consistent with the approach used on previous Knight projects. The result was better visibility and safety for crews working day and night, plus lower energy and maintenance cost for the managers overseeing the operation.
The result
The upgrade saves about $4,692 a year and 51,566 kWh, with $4,709 in utility incentives and a 6.2-year payback.
